Temporary Food Permits / Guidelines

Did you know that you need a food permit to setup a temporary food stand? State and local regulations allow for pop up events including festivals, fundraisers, micro markets, and fairs for a limited amount of time. All food vendors must obtain a food permit at least TWO BUSINESS DAYS prior to the event in Montgomery County. Permits may be obtained at the Montgomery County Health Department Environmental Administrative office. Our office is located at 117 Civic Center Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.

Permit Fees for Temporary Food Setups:

1-3 Days $60
4-7 Days $90
8-14 Days $125
After 14 days of being open you must shut down, move locations, and obtain another permit.

Food Vendors/Food Trucks/Statewide Mobiles:

Are you setting up within the City of Mt. Sterling? Mt. Sterling has a mobile food unit vendor ordinance that can be viewed here. Make sure you have everything you need from the city before you setup in your designated location.

If you have a Statewide Mobile permit, then you must call the Montgomery County Health Department before you set up to make sure we aware of your location. We ask that you provide us with an up-to-date copy of your permit for our records. You may send that to us through fax or emailed to the appropriate staff.
